About Sitegoat
sitegoat turns a photo into Minecraft map art: pixel art you see when you hold an in-game map. It runs entirely in your browser, it is free, and it works with plain Minecraft Java Edition. No mods, no accounts, and your photo never leaves your computer.
How it works
- Drop in a photo. Pick how many maps wide and tall you want. The preview updates instantly and shows the real in-game map colors, pixel for pixel.
- Download the datapack (or, on Chrome and Edge, install it straight into your world folder).
- Run one command. Type
/reloadand then/function mapart:buildin your world. The datapack places every block itself over a few seconds. Craft a map on top of it and you are done.
A matching /function mapart:clear command removes the build again, so you can experiment in one world without starting over.
Why it looks right
Maps in Minecraft do not use block texture colors. They use a separate, smaller palette, and each color comes in three shades depending on whether a block sits higher or lower than the block north of it. sitegoat matches your photo against that exact palette, then plans a height for every block so each one lands on the shade the picture needs. What you see in the preview is what the map will show.
Who made this
sitegoat is a small independent project built by a Minecraft player who wanted map art without the hand-placing. If something breaks, is confusing, or you have an idea, use the feedback link on the generator or email [email protected].
